Sworn Reserve Police Officer
Our reserve Police Officers fill several roles within the department. The majority of our Reserve Police Officers are members of our Patrol Division, volunteering at least 24 hours a month patrolling Southport, responding to calls for help, and being an active part of the community. We accept lateral transfers (Officers who have already been through the academy), and those who are just starting their journey in law enforcement.
Sworn Desk Services Officer
Sworn Desk Services Officers have the same police authority and ongoing training as other officers within our department. They serve a very important role within the department, literally as the first face citizens see at the Southport Municipal Complex. These officers are stationed at the front desk to ensure the safety of all elected officials housed in the Municipal complex and are available for citizens who require police assistance.

Desk Services Officers (Non-Sworn) also serve a very important role within the department, literally as the first face citizens see at the Southport Municipal Complex. These officers are stationed at the front desk to ensure the safety of all elected officials housed in the Municipal complex and to offer assistance to our citizens.
